Tabby... should we kill her... or let her grow?

Here is the new annoying person in the internetz

Ok... let us see what is going on here,

Cons for letting the wee little lass live:
1 - She is annyoing-
2 - She has a lightsaber and i don't

Pros for letting the girl live:
1 - She is a girl.
2 - She has a Lightsaber so we know at least one thing in her is cool
3 - This might be the one chance we have of seeing a bikini-baby-oil-jailbait fight to the death between her an Boxxy...

In my opinion... she lives... but not for long...

Superman: Red Son

From Wikipedia:
Superman: Red Son is a three-issue prestige format comic book mini-series published by DC Comics that was released under their Elseworlds imprint in April, 2003. Author Mark Millar created the comic with the premise "what if Superman had been raised in the Soviet Union?" It received critical acclaim and was nominated for the 2004 Eisner Award for best limited series.
The story mixes alternate versions of DC super-heroes with alternate-reality versions of real political figures such as Joseph Stalin and John F. Kennedy. The series spans approximately 1953-2001, save for a futuristic epilogue.
In Red Son, Superman's rocket ship lands on a Ukrainian collective farm rather than in Kansas, an implied reason being a small time difference (a handful of hours) from the original timeline, meaning Earth's rotation placed the Ukraine in the ship's path instead of Kansas. Instead of fighting for "...truth, justice, and the American Way", Superman is described in Soviet radio broadcasts "...as the Champion of the common worker who fights a never-ending battle for Stalin, socialism, and the international expansion of the Warsaw Pact." His "secret identity" (i.e. the name his adoptive parents gave him) is a state secret.

First off I'm not the biggest DC Fan, yours trully is a Marvel nerd, and a proud one.
Second I'm a sucker for alternate history stories, and that's just what Superman: Red Son is, and probably is one of the best I’ve seen.
It really tackles the morality inherent to the Superman mythos, placing in a position to abuse its powers, as the leader off Soviet Russia, giving a whole new meaning to whole nanny state spiel. During the whole run we get some alternate versions of classic DC characters, as an anarchist Batman and probably the grittiest incarnation of the Green Lantern. The art is extremly detalailed, I just loved how they fitted the whole superman iconography into the soviet theme.
Wholly recommend that you all check it out.

Noise du Jour: Tenhi - Lävitseni kaikkeen | Thru Me And Into Everything

From Wikipedia:
Tenhi is a Finnish band formed in 1996, playing melancholicneofolk music. The word tenhi is an old Finnish word meaning a village elder, wise old man or seer.
The music of Tenhi is minimalistic and dark. Usually, the rhythm instrument lines follow the customs of modern rock music. The melodical instruments and vocals are however very heavily folk-influenced. The basic instrumentarium of the band consists of acoustic guitarbass anddrums. Frequent additional instruments include pianoviolinviola and flute and less frequent didgeridoomouth harpharmoniumcellouduand synthesizer.

Noise du Jour: Tonight I'm Frakking You

Hanna (or another film about a little girl being a highly skilled killer)

From the IMDB page
Hanna (Ronan) is a teenage girl. Uniquely, she has the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a soldier; these come from being raised by her father (Bana), an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Finland. Living a life unlike any other teenager, her upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. The turning point in her adolescence is a sharp one; sent into the world by her father on a mission, Hanna journeys stealthily across Europe while eluding agents dispatched after her by a ruthless intelligence operative with secrets of her own (Ms. Blanchett). As she nears her ultimate target, Hanna faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity.

It seems that Saoirse Ronan is starting her Atonment for the piece of crap that was The Lovely Bones (if you liked that you're either a little girl or a pedophile, and that's science) and is also rumored to be playing an elven warrior in the Hobbit adaptation, and that i can dig. I for one will be waiting for this movie, how about you?

Noise du Jour: Coil - Main Title (Unreleased Hellraiser Theme)

While Clive Barker was writing the story "The Hellbound Heart" that would eventually become Hellraiser, he visited his acquaintances in the experimental music group Coil. Barker was a fan -- he once described Coil as "the only group I've heard on disc, whose records I've taken off because they made my bowels churn." And yes, that was a compliment. The story goes that Coil loaned Barker a stack of extreme bodypiercing magazines that inspired the birth of, you guessed it, Pinhead. Barker later invited Coil to compose the soundtrack for the Hellraiser film. Coil did their magic on the score but, ultimately, the Hollywood studio went with the safe (and far less sinister) sounds of Christopher Young. Of course, Young did a respectable job but, well, it isn't Coil. Here is a taste of what could have been. Tracks from that project appear on the Coil collection "Unnatural History II" and the very limited "Unreleased Themes for Hellraiser" cassette, vinyl, or CD. (Rest in peace, Sleazy and John.)

I for one welcome our mecha ridinn' hamster overlords

Via CrabFu ArtWorks:
The hamster powered? that's just stupid, which is the exact reason why I did it. It's different, hasn't been done before, yet it's in so many what's-under-the-hood jokes. It also had a high likelyhood of working, so I had to attempt it. Only problem: I don't have a hamster, I don't want a hamster for a pet, and I don't know what sort of power and weight a little critter like that has. All I know is that I've seen them go ballistic on the hamster wheel, and so they must have great weight to power ratio.
It's a mixture of cute and creepy. Yeah, creepy the legs on the mecha are pretty disconcerting to me. Anyhow, love to have one of those.

Neil Gaiman’s 1994 safe sex PSA starring Death from Sandman and John Constantine

Via io9:
In 1994, Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean of Sandman created this HIV awareness PSA comic designed for a high school readership. The comic starred everyone's favorite goth anthropomorphic depiction of Death, an abashed John Constantine, and a banana.
Sadly, this comic didn't spur a series of Vertigo-themed PSAs. I would've liked to have seen the Spider Jerusalem anti-drug, booze, and prolapse-inducing firearm ad. After all, his get-out-the-vote commercial was priceless.

Now imagine this with Keanu Reeves' Constantine....
