The Atomic Bitchwax are a rock/jam band formed in the basements of New Jersey during the mid 90s by then 25 year olds Chris Kosnik of Godspeed and Ed Mundell of Monster Magnet.The bands first two albums, I and II, had a heavy psychedelic sound with roughly half of their songs containing only minimal vocals and the rest were instrumental. As the bands sound has progressed over the last 10+ years ,a more traditional song writing approach was slowly realized by incorporating the bands signature “boxriff technique” with the Kosnik/Ryan dual vocal harmonies throughout their last three releases.

Tenhi is a Finnish band formed in 1996, playing melancholic, neofolk music. The word tenhi is an old Finnish word meaning a village elder, wise old man or seer.

The music of Tenhi is minimalistic and dark. Usually, the rhythm instrument lines follow the customs of modern rock music. The melodical instruments and vocals are however very heavily folk-influenced. The basic instrumentarium of the band consists of acoustic guitar, bass anddrums. Frequent additional instruments include piano, violin, viola and flute and less frequent didgeridoo, mouth harp, harmonium, cello, uduand synthesizer.

Noise du Jour: Coil - Main Title (Unreleased Hellraiser Theme)

While Clive Barker was writing the story "The Hellbound Heart" that would eventually become Hellraiser, he visited his acquaintances in the experimental music group Coil. Barker was a fan -- he once described Coil as "the only group I've heard on disc, whose records I've taken off because they made my bowels churn." And yes, that was a compliment. The story goes that Coil loaned Barker a stack of extreme bodypiercing magazines that inspired the birth of, you guessed it, Pinhead. Barker later invited Coil to compose the soundtrack for the Hellraiser film. Coil did their magic on the score but, ultimately, the Hollywood studio went with the safe (and far less sinister) sounds of Christopher Young. Of course, Young did a respectable job but, well, it isn't Coil. Here is a taste of what could have been. Tracks from that project appear on the Coil collection "Unnatural History II" and the very limited "Unreleased Themes for Hellraiser" cassette, vinyl, or CD. (Rest in peace, Sleazy and John.)

Hifana (ハイファナ Haifana^?, "South Winds" in the Okinawan dialect) is a Japanese breakbeat musical duo, composed of KEIZOmachine! (Keizo Fukuda) and Juicy (Jun Miyata). The group formed in 1998, in the Tokyo neighbourhood of Kichijōji.

Sadly I japanese is quite rusty now a days, so I don't now the name of the guy on the drums, apart from the squintingly letters 石川直.
Oh, and a the instrument their playing at the end is an Asalato, pretty nifty stuff.

Noise du Jour: Deltron 3030 - 3030

And I'm here to lay some musical knowledge on ya, with a bit of good hip hop (I know, my sex kittens, it's an oxymoron).

Deltron 3030 is an alternative hip hop supergroup composed of producer Dan the Automator, rapper Del tha Funkee Homosapien (known as Deltron Zero for the project) and DJ Kid Koala. Their work features many other artists as well, all taking on various futuristic pseudonyms.
